We stayed in Curaçao over Easter weekend, and unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations—especially for a birthday getaway.
The first night was a mess. The pool was dirty and completely unusable, and the landscaping around the property was severely neglected. It felt like walking through a jungle just to reach the backyard. We had planned to grill that first night, but the grill didn’t work either—another letdown. Thankfully, the pool guy was able to get the gas grill working on the second day while he was out cleaning the pool.
What made things worse was knowing that the pool company had already reported issues from a previous guest, and the pool still wasn’t clear by the time we arrived. If you know guests are checking in, and you’re already aware of an unresolved issue, it’s only right to inform the next guests and ensure it’s taken care of before arrival. We received no heads-up at all.
The pool didn’t get fully clear until the end of the second day. Needless to say, we didn’t feel comfortable jumping in due to the amount of chemicals that had just been added to clear it—and we were checking out the next morning at 10 AM. While the pool is advertised as “heated,” it’s on a controlled setting and does not automatically adjust when the temperature drops, which made it even less inviting.
I requested a late checkout and received no response. The property manager finally came out to assess the situation in the middle of the second day, but by then, most of our time was already gone. Nothing was done to make up for the poor experience, aside from access to the golf cart on the second day—thanks to Justin, after I called to pay for the cart.
To make matters worse, the emergency property service agent (her name was either Allie or Julie Jones) lacked basic customer service skills when dealing with a displeased guest. She was sarcastic, unhelpful, and clearly didn’t want to assist. At one point, she even hung up on me—only to call back shortly after. Her attitude and lack of professionalism made a frustrating situation even worse.
For a birthday trip over a holiday weekend, this was a major disappointment. The lack of communication and accountability throughout was unacceptable. A little more care and hospitality—especially from the emergency contact—could’ve gone a long way. But instead, it just felt like we were an afterthought.

We strongly advise against booking the Agean 211 under the management of Emerald Coast. The accommodations were exorbitantly priced, considering the subpar quality of the services provided. Everything was filthy! We have family members who own a rental in the adjacent building and they rent out their property as well, and their experience was vastly different from ours.
During our stay, we encountered the following issues:
* Uncleaned dishes required prior washing before consumption.
* Presence of cockroaches.
* Lack of functional pots and pans/kitchen utensils
* Inoperative ice maker.
* Poor water pressure.
* Loss of power and air conditioning.
* Dirty and soiled sheets and blankets for the pull-out coach, including one stained with urine and another with crusted residue.

Warning about Emerald Coast Rentals: Our Vacation was a Nightmare!
We booked a vacation home in Destin, Florida, but what we encountered had nothing to do with the pictures we saw online. The house was in a disastrous condition: dirty walls, mold, both live and dead cockroaches and a dangerous, dilapidated deck that was a serious safety risk for our small children. The house was completely uninhabitable and a nightmare.
Despite multiple complaints, we were offered no refund and had to leave the property after three days. Instead, we had to spend hours on the phone, even calling back to Germany, which resulted in extremely high phone costs.
All we were offered by Emerald Coast Vacations was a small monetary compensation—on the condition that we sign an agreement not to leave any public negative reviews. We refused, because people need to know that this property is dangerous and a complete disaster. It’s outrageous that we didn’t get our money back.
To this day Emerald Coast Rentals didn’t have reached out to us to resolve the situation. Our vacation was completely ruined by constant phone calls, we incurred high costs, and our group of six adults and two children endured a terrible experience. It’s unacceptable that they even tried to silence us from sharing this review publicly.
